17 Dec 2014 Slow day But some Monster Reds

17 Dec 2014 Slow fishing day but still on the Monster Reds today I was supposed to have a charter today but they cancelled on me last night. So since I already had everything ready I decided to phone a friend and go out fishing for the fun of it and fish some areas I haven't fished in quite a while. So after getting my kids dropped off at school and stopping by Seven Seas bait and tackle to get some shrimp we made it on the water about 8 am. We spent the morning trolling around looking for signs of life with a very slow and low incoming tide. As the tide came in we kept working our way back into some creeks that I haven't been to in over a year. Spent quite a bit of time trolling and not finding but once again after a couple hours out the water warmed up 3 degrees from when I started and signs of life started to happen. We saw ones and two's of Reds still with lock jaw and couldn't get them to bite so since I looked at the areas and got the information I was looking for we headed back out to deeper water to about 1 foot and set up. For my last several trips the reds have been biting a lot like catfish. A nibble here and there than a small tug. Several times I thought we had hooked a cat and turned out to be a nice red. Same went for today, we ended up only with two Reds on the boat for a picture and release. Well y'all can see by the picture how big they were. I thought I was in Louisiana with the one I caught.
