Cape Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet

Pompano are here! Before the recent blustery weather conditions, anglers were finding decent numbers of good-sized pompano along beaches from Port Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet. By far the best area has been between Patrick AFB and Indialantic, however, the fish move daily and changes in weather can also cause a move. Sandfleas have been hard to find and most anglers are using fresh cut clams though fresh cut shrimp and even frozen sandfleas are also decent baits. When anglers can find the fleas, usually during warmer days, these are the ideal bait. Other than pompano, anglers are also finding good numbers of whiting, bluefish, sheepshead and black drum. Most of the drum have been in the Cocoa Beach area, while the other species are scattered. Wait for winds to calm before returning to beaches as conditions right now are fairly rough and dirty.
