Florida Surf Fishing Report for: Cape Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet Finger mullet are still present in the surf, though not in the numbers as were weeks ago during the height of the fall mullet run. Persistent anglers will be able to find small pods of baitfish in the white wash. Predatory species, specifically snook, jack crevalle, bluefish and redfish, are also actively chasing these baitfish. The better catches of snook are coming during early mornings and evenings when the water is fairly clean. Sharks are more common when water conditions are dirty and rough. By far anglers using live baits, such as finger mullet or croakers, are fairing best with the snook, though some using plugs are also getting strikes. Most of the snook in the surf are under-sized and must be released unharmed. Whiting are fairly consistent in the surf, with most averaging 10 to 12 inches and a few scaling larger. When anglers can find coquina rock or other structure, sheepshead and margates are also possible. Live sandfleas, fresh cut shrimp and clam are the best baits for these species.
