March for Tarpon and Dolphin Well March came in as a lion and has been one several times so far this month. That means plenty of wind. This has been the worst March for sailfish in quite a while. It should turn around any day. Tarpon fishing has been fairly good with fish up to 100 pounds. Ernie Buel came over from the west coast of Florida and his party caught kings and some real nice dolphin. The sailfish were like vitamins, one a day. Over the weekend, the Lapnow boys caught some small dolphin, a couple king mackerel, some amberjacks of assorted sizes and 3 nice tarpon. Benji Hiller and his angling friends from Boston caught a mess of dolphin including a 20 pound bull on 6 pound tackle. Benji scored with a 40 pound shark on 4 pound test line. Les and Jerry each caught tarpon in the 80 to 90 pound class on 12 pound tackle. Be sure to check out "Living Legends in Big Game Fishing" it is a great collection of fishing stories compiled by Patrick Mansell. It is available at Amazon.com .
