If you haven't noticed there is a change in the air here in South Florida. Open the door first thing in the morning and you can't help but notice the coolness to the morning's air. Every serious South Florida fishermen immediately gets excited when they feel that Fall change in the air. They know that the Fall migration is about to or already has started. And it has started. Large schools of baitfish have invaded the waters of South Florida weeks ago. Small Spanish mackerel, bluefish, bluerunners, jacks and ladyfish have followed this baitfish into Biscayne Bay where some of my savvy clients have had the opportunity to cash in on the action. Others have booked me for charters that will take place in the near future. Bigger fish will soon make their appearance be known. Large jack crevalles, bigger bluefish, Spanish mackerel, juvenile king mackerel, large ladyfish, medium to large tarpon, pompano and snook that are following the baitfish schools south will be here any minute. The nice thing is that this migration will continue through the end of November. After that each school of migrating fish that moved into our area will leave stragglers behind and those stragglers will join together creating a pretty steady fishery for South Florida into the Spring when the migrating fish return as they head north. {%image_id=35191%}{%image_id=35189%}{%image_id=35188%}{%image_id=35187%} Besides the migrating fish that we have to target with cooler air and water temperatures coming our inshore bottom fishing will take off. In the past during late October and early November I have had 100 grouper and snapper days fishing the channels of South Biscayne Bay. Most of these fish are just under size but there are always a few legal red groupers and mutton snappers mixed in with the smaller fish and the action can be non stop. When the weather allows the offshore fishing for larger kingfish, mackerel, blackfin tuna and dolphins will be good. Flamingo in Everglades' National Park will see snook schools scattering as the fish start their move into the backcountry for the winter. But if the rains continue like they have these snook will hold on the outside shorelines as they wait for the right conditions for them to make their move. Add to the snook action there will be plenty of action from redfish, the return of black drum, sheepshead, mackerel, bluefish, pompano, cobia and gag groupers so you can see how things are shaping up for some exciting Fall fishing. {%image_id=35186%}{%image_id=35192%}{%image_id=35190%} Well that catches us up for now.
