Getting Caught Up - Fishing Report - Aboard Knot Nancy

It's been a while since my last report. During this time Nancy and I have taken a vacation to see relatives, the tarpon action during the evening was very good, and most currently, the dolphin/mahi action has been excellent. {%image_id=54763%} {%image_id=54758%} After returning from vacation, I finished out the remainder of June with some very good tarpon action during the evening. We averaged between 2 to 6 tarpon on each trip and landed and released 50% of the fish we hooked. The fish ranged in size from 30 to 90 pounds. Several anglers caught their first tarpon and are now hooked on tarpon fishing. {%image_id=54756%} {%image_id=54754%} {%image_id=54757%} {%image_id=54755%} {%image_id=54753%} Moving offshore, the best and most consistent action has been with dolphin/mahi. Time to burn some fuel as it's a bit longer run to get out to the area where the action has been taking place. The area between 900 - 1000 has been the best producing depths. Find a small group of sooty terns and you'll find the dolphin. The fish have mostly been small schoolies in the 20 - 26 inch range. There have also been many undersized fish. If you find one of these groups, catch a few, throw them back , and move on. {%image_id=54759%} {%image_id=54765%} {%image_id=54762%} {%image_id=54761%} The weed lines have been scarce. Mostly scattered grass with the exception of my last trip on Saturday. We found a nice weed line and it was holding fish. We also found a log that had several tripletails on it. We caught 3 of them. {%image_id=54764%} {%image_id=54760%} That brings me up to date. Time to load up the boat and get out there again. Captain Dave Kostyo 305-965-9454 [email protected]
