It's Blowin but they're Chewin

That accurately describes the past couple of days here in South Florida. I have been fishing 10 of the past 14 days. The tarpon have rebounded in a strong fashion. Although the fish have been a little scattered we have had success in finding them. The fish are ranging from 30-100#'s. In addition to the tarpon the offshore scene is heating up. The sailfish have not disappointed us. With strong north current we caught several sails on every one of our offshore trips except one and even then we still had a shot at 2 of them but could not get a hook in either one. With the recent strong winds and steady flow of north current the sailfish bite will only continue to build. The strong easterly winds have also blown in a couple of mahi. These have been caught while fishing the edge. The fish are ranging anywhere from 4-25#'s with some larger ones mixed in. The sword bite showed some signs of improvement with the daytime bite getting better results than the night fishery. I did hear of one beast caught that weighed in at over 500#'s. The bottom bite has also benefited with the increase of current in on the reef. We have caught some nice muttons and groupers, which were released due to a closed season on grouper. The kingfish have shown up again in good numbers and there have been some larger fish mixed in with some of the smaller fish. Well that brings us up to date as to what we are catching. Soon we will have the time change and you know what that means. Late afternoon trips. This is my favorite type of trip where we fish from 12-8 or 1-9pm. The trips usually run about 4 hours offshore and then 4 hours inshore in pursuit of tarpon. This trip has become so popular with my customers that a third of my April is already booked and 90% of the bookings are this particular trip. I often talk about this trip because you get the most bang for your buck due to all the different species that we will target. That is a quick snapshot of what we have been doing on the "LuckyVee".
