The full moon, dirty water, and a south current, put the brakes on the offshore fishing this week. Anglers had a tough time trying to find a fish to get to bite. Sailfishing was almost non-existent, whereas just the week before it was gang-buster fishing. The fish are probably still here but anglers are a going to have to wait until the conditions return to normal. A few reports came in from anglers returning from the Bahamas and they reported finding a weedline about mid-way across the gulf stream and they did find Dolphin on it. The only other interesting find this week were a few large Cobia caught while kite fishing for Sails. This time of year you can typically find schools of Cobia following turtles and rays, especially Leatherback turtles. Blackfin Tuna will begin to find their way into our area. Anglers live baiting along the edge of the reef will find them attacking their baits and these fish can be on the larger size of twenty pounds.
