Miami, Florida - Offshore

This past week we saw a screaming current to the north of Key Biscayne with fairly good cathces of sailfish. Dolphin were hitting early in the morning. The fish were moving south very fast and some schools were hungry while the others wouldn't hit a thing. North of the monument buoy there was a decent bite of Kingfish, some big and some small. While we were having a screaming current to the north the boys off ocean reef were watching the current sweep to the south...go figure! The beacon ..."Triumph Reef" ...was only so so fishing. Probably the area from Fowey Light to Government Cut was the most productive this week. If the current remains I wouldn't make too much of a move in either direction, but if it changes. I might head south to see if I can keep up with the fish that may be heading that way. Bait fishing has been fairly good off the offshore markers when the water has been dirty. When the water clears up good luck. And if you're fishing on the weekend, be sure to get out early to find your bait.
