New Year Is Off To A Great Start! Where do I begin? As you probably know there have been a lot of positive changes going on. First and foremost I am the proud owner of a brand new 32 SeaVee. I just finished putting the mandatory 10 hour break in period and so far it’s been great. With the help of some great sponsors such as Simrad Electronics, SeaVee Boats, Biscayne Rods and Shakespeare/Pflueger Reels I am ready to tackle the New Year in style. To say that there were a lot of folks that made this happen would be an understatement. And to those people I thank you. To be honest I have not been doing a lot of fishing since we have been dialing in the boat and putting on the finishing touches. But that will change shortly. Being a fulltime guide though does keep me in the loop as to what has been going on in the Miami area. The tarpon have finally arrived and are on the beaches and in the bay. My friend and fellow captain Dave Kostyo fished last week going 2 for 3 on the beaches and bay. I have also spoken to a couple of other guides that have also confirmed the presence of tarpon on the beaches. The sailfish bite has really been average for this time of year. They are being caught but not in the big numbers that is usual for this time of year. All we need is another cold front or two to the north of us and the bite should really get hot. Sword fishing has also been good with reports of a strong bite during the day and night. If you are considering coming down to the Miami Area to fish give me a call and let’s set up a trip. We are a short flight from anywhere in the U.S. You could be in 20 degree weather and 5 hours later be in 75 degree weather, drinking a beer and fishing for tarpon on world famous South Beach. That is it for now but stay tuned as I will have fishing reports for you within the week. Have a Great New Year and I Will See You on the “LuckyVee” Capt. Gil Lucky Fishing Charters
