FISHING NORTH BISCAYNE BAY with CAPT. ALAN SHERMAN Sorry I haven't updated this report in sometime but I have been very busy with charters for the past few weeks. Fishing in the bay has taken a back seat to fishing just offshore from Bakers Haulover to Gov. Cut. Spanish mackerel fishing hasn't been this good since the 70's. Normally by this time of the year most of the Spanish mackerel have moved south by now but this year the mackerel just keep coming and coming. Catches of over 30 fish in a 4 hour span and up to 6 pounds has been common. Juvenile king mackerel and bluefish have been mixed in with the mackerel. All it has taken is a bag of Mark's chum and a live well of live pilchards and you are set for the day. Off shore there has been so many schools of baby sardines with bonitas, king mackerel and Spanish mackerel feeding on them. Fishing on the grass flats has had great action on sea trout for catch and release. Happy Holidays and a Very Safe New Year! Recent Catches: Arron Jones and Mitch Lazar caught and released over 30 soeckled sea trout to 3 pounds in North Biscayne Bay. Norton Small and his friend Bruce caught and released over 20 speckled sea trout in North Biscayne Bay. Fishing out of Port of The Islands Val and his friend Carlos caight a 5 pound black drum, sheepshead and over 20 speckled sea trout to 3 pounds. They also saw an 8 foot sawfish. Bob Gale and his friend Jerry caught a 7 pound king mackerel, plus 20 spanish mackerel to 4 pounds. Fishing along the Tamiami Trail Zachary Sherman and his cousin Alexander caught and released 6 snook to 7 pounds. Alexander age 12 caught his first 4 snook plus two small redfish. Jerry Chaves and his 8 yera old nephew Spencer caught over 30 Spanish mackerel, king mackerel and bluerunners. They released all but afew for dinner. Tight Lines And Good Fishing” Capt.
