Miami and Biscayne Bay tarpon fishing is still very good. Catching giant tarpon can require a substantial amount of energy, as I have witnessed from several customers this season so far. Pulling directly against the tarpon with the rod pointed nearly at it puts maximum pressure on the fish and allows the tarpon to tire itself out. Putting a big bend in the rod requires a lot of force by the angler while exerting less pressure on the tarpon. It's really just a simple law of physics. The longer the lever, the more force you have to apply at one end to equal the same force at the other end. Here are a few pictures that show this point.{%image_id=8924%} This is the hard way.{%image_id=8925%} This is the easy way.
