Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report February 2015

Colder water temps have schooled up fish in deeper areas adjacent to shallow grass flats in Mosquito Lagoon! Black Drum, Redfish, Sea Trout, and the occasional Flounder can all be caught in these areas by using a live shrimp on a jig or Kahle hook with a split shot. Work the shrimp on the bottom slowly and methodically as some of the strikes will be subtle when the fish are slightly lethargic early morning. Jigs with soft plastics such as the DOA Cal work great for the angler who wants to use artificials. A gold spoon is also a great choice this time of year for Redfish and the occasional Trout too! Work the sandy areas along the flats and expect to have great results! Follow me on Facebook for up to the minute catch reports @ Capt-Jon Lulay and Instagram @captjonlulay. Book your trip today!
