Fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon has been good this past week but we have not made the record catches as we did last month. Arron Batchelder of Lake Helen took five big trout on slam’Rs and four reds. The trout were eating the plastics in the pearl and meangreen color. The trout are sitting in the white holes scattered across the flats and there edges. The reds are eating pearl and black back shad bodies worked in front of the swimming reds. The water level has come up about a foot making the fishing aria a few hundred acres more. The reds have been tailing in the morning along the many islands in the lagoon. A shrimp tossed in front of the reds in this state is a sure thing. The jetties at Ponce has had a few cobia caught just outside of the rocks. Locate a manta ray and you should find a cobia or two. Toss a jig or live offering in front of the fish and hang on. These fish are tough and you don’t want to bring a green one in the boat, Go directly to your box and sit on it. Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.

Tight Lines,
