Fishing has been off the charts since the wind has died down from last week. Last week we suffered through four days of low pressure and wind up to fourty mile per hour. This week the skies have been clear with calm winds, slick in the a.m. and five to ten in the late morning. The temperature has been pleasant with the lows around sixty and the highs at about seventy five. The fishing has been awesome this week with alot of reds tailing and huge trout cruising the shallows looking for a snack. Betsy Swisher joined me a few days ago and she caught snook, reds, trout to six pounds and then we went to fish the edge of the channel. We anchored up and fished pieces of shrimp by the rocks. Betsy finished her day catching silver trout, sheepshead, grouper, trout, mangrove snapper, grunt and a hand full of trash fish. It was quick action and alot of fun, something to break up the day of the flats. The bigger trout are on the flats in the shallow water but remember trout season is closed so you have to release them. We took our biggest trout this week on 12 Fathom slam'Rs in the pumpkinseed color. We have been taking most of our reds on finger mullet and shrimp, that is on charters. I fish alot of plastics when I fish the flats. If they are eating finger mullet I throw a 12 Fathom shad, pearl body with a black back. Change your retrieve speed until you find out the mode of the fish. For a guarenteed fishing trip call 1 877463 5287. Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
