A Little Bit of Everything

It's almost Easter and we have still been doing 5-6 trips per week. Fishing has been getting better after this last little cold front and we have been catching a little bit of everything. Very rarely do I get clients that want to target one species of fish in particular, so generally I try to target whatever wants to bite that particular day. If the clients want fish to eat we usually target snapper on our half day trips. I always tend to throw a few "bonus" Rods out the back or on the bottom for something bigger...I'm always surprised how often the bonus rod makes the entire trip a success. The last couple weeks our charters have started off catching pilchards a couple miles off the beach on one of our Nearshore wrecks. Sometimes I'll actually Fish at the bait spot; sometimes we get into the kings pretty good there. If that's slow we'll run out farther to a ledge or reef and drop the pilchards to the bottom on light tackle for the Mangrove Snapper...they love pilchards! I've also found that you catch a lot less "trash fish" when using a live bait versus a cut bait. {%image_id=53438%}{%image_id=53437%}{%image_id=53436%}{%image_id=53435%}{%image_id=53434%}{%image_id=53433%}{%image_id=53432%}{%image_id=53431%}{%image_id=53430%}{%image_id=53429%}{%image_id=53428%}{%image_id=53427%}{%image_id=53043%}{%image_id=53042%}
