Fishing Rebounding After Tropical Storm Andrea

Andrea creeped across the gulf and across Florida last week making soggy conditions on the water and forcing cancellations for most of the week. Since the weekend, the fishing has gotten back to normal with large snook being the main event. Snook are schooled heavily in the passes and are taking live baits as well as a variety of artificals and flies. The late afternoon falling tides have been on fire. Smaller snook are scattered all over the backcountry along with some slot sized redfish. We took several nice reds the other day on Gulp jigs as well as live shrimp. I have not tarpon fished in two weeks, but there are still fish in the area. Typically after a period of heavy rains as we have had, the baby tarpon concentrate as bait is flushed out of the creeks. They are great fun on light tackle and fly rod and love to take a variety of artifical lures.
