Hot Snook and Redfish Bite in Naples

Wow the wind keeps blowing and the fish keep chewing. The key to success is live pilchards. The seas have been very rough with seas at 3-5ft almost every morning. The bait is on the nearshore wrecks around 3 miles, just need to take your time getting out there and be careful. The snook fishing has been great with some real nice fish being caught. This morning we managed a big girl that measured in at 43in. She ate a live pilchard fish tight to mangrove shoreline with a oyster bar out front. I have been seeing quite a few big fish in small bays lately. Most trips have been catching 15-25 snook in the 22-30in range. Redfish have really made a great showing as of the last few weeks. Most fish have been in the 27-32in range. I have been getting some keeper fish in the 24-36in range, but most seem to be over slot. I have been getting between 2-5 fish per trip. They have been in almost every bay between Naples and Marco Island. Plenty of chummers really get them going and low water as been key. With all this south wind and incoming tides the water has filled up quick and shut down the redfish bite. Tarpon are in the passes early in the morning and late in the afternoon. I have not given them much attention with the boat traffic. Give it a week for this weather to settle down and I will be fishing for them. {%image_id=8781%}
