Hot Snook Bite

The past week has been all about the snook here in Naples. I've been running the beaches at first light and netting plenty of 3-5in. pilchards in 10-15ft. of water. Look for the birds diving and pay attention to your bottom machine and you should find plenty. Snook were in the passes pretty good early in the week and have slowed a bit the last couple days. I have been focusing on docks with deep water and good moving water. Fish have ranged in size from 24-35in. with a lot of fish close to the slot. Mixed in with the snook have been some big jacks and nice gag grouper. Sunday we managed four nice gags, with one fish going 26 inches. The backwaters have been tough to fish with all the east wind holding the water out till the last of the tide. The fish seemed to be pretty scattered in the back and not really holding good on any points. Small snook and jacks have been thick on one point and non existent on the next. Weather is good and fishing is getting better by the day. Now is the time to start booking for the Spring Tarpon Season as dates are starting to fill in. Till next time keep those rods bent and drags screamin. Capt Chris
