Naples Fishing Report

Its been a while since my last report and things have changed quite a bit. Water temps went from the mid 70's to mid 50's rapidly. At first it shut down the snook fishing, but trout fishing improved. The water warmed back in the mid 60's and the snook fishing improved again. I was getting them on pilchards fished tight to the bushes. Heavy chumming was the key to getting them to eat. Mixed in with the snook are trout, ladyfish and jacks. Jig fishing has been more productive for overall numbers if thats what your after. DOA CALS in the key lime and greenie have been getting plenty of trout, ladyfish, and bluefish. Most of the trout are in the 15-19in range. Pompano fishing has been good on the tide switches using tube jigs tipped with shrimp. Last week also had big schools of bait being destroyed by bonita in shallow water. I was throwing small casting spoons and Storm Chug Bugs. It was a lot of fun on light line and the fish were in less than 10ft of water.
