Well I think its safe to say rainy season has come early in Naples. I was only able to get in two out of my five trips this week. The rain we did get was needed and will really get the tarpon going. The low pressure had a big swell in the water and most of my trips have been for tarpon and beach fishing was out of the question. It really layed down today and fishing was good. The pilchards are on the normal spots, but there are a lot of small threads mixed in. They work good, but die easily. Yesterday the snook fishing was great in the Naples Bay area, we caught tons of snook to 26in and some big jacks were mixed in. I fished the docks with good moving water and shade. With the high tides chumming was needed to get them out from the docks. I also fished the pass and it was loaded with snook, any bait close to the rocks didnt last long. Today I fished with a great client Pierre and we were able to net some big threads before the sun came up and then ran the beaches looking for tarpon. They were there, but scattered and not holding good in any one area. The big schools of glass minnows from last week were not as thick and the threads were staying deep. We managed one fish about 60lbs and Pierre did a great job on his first tarpon. {%image_id=9850%}
