Well April is almost over and hopefully the wind will go with it. It has been blowing hard for the last two months making the beach tarpon fishing tough, on the bright side this weekends forecast has the wind letting up. I have been tarpon fishing alot and have been doing well even in not so favorable conditions. I did mange to fish a couple days last week off the Ft Myers beach area and the fish were there in good numbers. We managed too hook a few fish in the 80lb range, but the sharks were thick and hammering our baits. I have been doing really well in the Naples area on the afternoon outgoing tide. They were inhaling mullet early in the week and 3-7 hookups were common. Most fish were in the 80lb range. The last two afternoons they have not been on the spots eating mullet so I have switched over to threads under corks and catfish tails. April 28th we managed to go 1-3 with the fish going about 70lbs. This afternoon I had a great client Len on the boat and we had a great trip. We went 2-3 but both fish were over 125lbs and one was every bit of 150lbs. They both ate catfish tails and the other fish ate a thread, but wrapped up in the line and broke off. I managed to get a few more DNA samples and all fish swam off healthy. {%image_id=9284%}
