Tarpon Fishing Naples

They are here for sure just takes a little searching to find them. I have been from Naples to Sanibel this week tarpon fishing. Winds have played a huge role in the fishing locations. They need to quit blowing and conditions will be ideal. Bait of choice on the beaches have been big thread herrings fished under small floats. The fish have been scattered and seeing free jumping fish has made drifting the way to fish them. I havent been seeing any big schools of rolling fish, but tons of free jumpers. In Naples I am still trying to focus on the late afternoon outgoing tide. Tarpon are feeding on mullet really well. This afternoon I put 4 fish in the air in less than hour. Three fish ate mullet and the one I landed ate a DOA Baitbuster and was about 60lbs. The other fish were in the 75-100lb class. Snook fishing will be improving daily with the warming waters. They are going to be bigger and more agressive as they are getting big before they spawn. Concentrate on docks, passes and nearshore wrecks for your biggest fish and the beaches are finally starting to hold some good numbers of fish.
