The last few days of April provided stellar action, plenty of sunshine, but windy conditions at times. The past week finding clean water was a chore, areas that provided clean moving water, provided non stop action. Snook fanatics, the bite is heating up, bigger snook are on the move, pushing towards deep passes and bridges. Schools of snook are starting to show up, ambushing these pods on both sides of the tides. Rapala x raps and Doa 3 inch shad tail mimic the live baits, snook are eating. The The low tide we had in the morning the past week had the black drum fired up. Flats and holes were abundant with drum from 2 to 15 pounds. Bait worked on the bottom best method to get these fish to eat. Mixed in with them with the drum, lane snapper, mangrove snapper, mutton snapper, croaker, and many other species that roam the bottom. Anglers looking for a great battle, jacks are roaming shorelines, seawalls and docks. Live baits get the schools fired up. Rapala skitter walk great bait to get explosive top water strikes. Moving water is the key to finding the pods of jacks, once you locate them, you can catch them consistently. Both sides of the tides create opportunities.
