Fishing was very good once again this week! We landed snook on every charter, redfish, large speckled trout, silver trout, pompano, sea bass, Spanish mackerel, jack crevelle to 8 pounds, flounder, mangrove snapper, and ladyfish on shrimp, pilchards, and jigs. Several clients caught their first ever snook. On Sunday morning I fished with Sarasota locals Martha and Brian Heard and their 15 year old daughter Selena. They had a great trip, the speckled trout bite was fantastic! They caught close to a dozen trout in the slot, including a 24" fish on the last cast along with a couple of 20" and several 18" trout. Pompano, silver trout, Spanish mackerel, big sea bass, jack crevelle, and ladyfish were also boated. Brian and Selena also each caught their first ever snook. Martha pitched in with a nice Spanish mackerel and a nice jack. All of the fish were taken near Siesta Key on live pilchards and shrimp. Bob and Sally Theis from Manlius, NY treated their daughter Alison to a fishing trip on Monday. Action was virtually non-stop on speckled trout free lining shrimp near Marina Jack, with the largest one going 25". Spanish mackerel, jack crevelle, ladyfish, and more were also caught. I netted up some pilchards and we finished up near CB's Saltwater Outfitters catching several nice jack crevelle and a snook. Marci Jenke from Colorado and her friend Mary experienced steady action on Wednesday morning. Speckled trout, silver trout, mackerel, snapper, and ladyfish kept the rods bent. The flats near Selby were the most productive. We stopped at a dock along Siesta Key where Marci landed a snook and several more were hooked and lost. Friday morning Becky and Ken Jenkins from Naperville, IL celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary by going fishing. Gotta love that! They had a great morning, landing several slot trout, silver trout, sugar trout, mangrove and lane snapper, jacks, and ladyfish on the deep flats near Big Pass on shrimp and small pinfish. We finished up the trip with both Becky and Ken catching their first snook, along with several jacks to 5 pounds. {%image_id=26649%}
