Weather continues to be the story here in Sarasota. We are going on a month or so now of west winds and unsettled weather in the mornings. Charters begin at home, looking at the radar, then dodging storms throughout the morning. Still, fishing remained good on the deeper grass flats. {%image_id=44481%} The cloud cover and rains have resulted in the water temperature dropping into the low 80s. Grass flats in 6' to 8' of water are producing some very nice mangrove snapper and speckled trout. Catching a bunch of pilchards and chumming has been the key to success. {%image_id=44482%} The flats near both passes have been the most productive spots. Marker #5, Marina Jacks, Radio Tower, and Middlegrounds all provided clients with bent rods and steady action. Along with trout and snapper, cobia, gag grouper, black sea bass, flounder, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, jacks, and sharks are being caught regularly. This time of year it is all about action and variety! {%image_id=44483%}
