We launched our Florida boat several days ago, and spent about three hours looking around the Indian River and the mouth of the Sebastian Inlet. Lots of boats surrounded us in most of the usual haunts, but we brought in a nice pompano, lots of ladyfish, and a small jack–all caught on artificial lures. We encountered many dolphin everywhere we went, and it appears that the fishing has improved from last year; at least the dolphin families looked hearty and quite content with their catch, even if ours was meager. If the weather is favorable, we'll try again next week.
