Fishing is Still Very Disappointing

We haven't fished for more than a week…lots of reasons but, most importantly, it's been very discouraging to speak with other local fishermen and hear their stories about the dearth of anything meaningful in the Indian River. Some neighbors worked the River between Sebastian and Vero Beach a couple of days ago and brought in some ladyfish and a couple of small trout. Water temps (58-60) are still below seasonal norms, and we've yet to see the usual species returning to their haunts. Friends went out about 60 miles offshore last week, and all they caught after a full day's fishing, covering about 115 miles, were one amberjack about 40 lbs and three tilefish (two 10-pounders and one about 18) caught in depths of 600-700ft.
