Lots of Ladies, Blues and Trout...

Saturday was a beautiful day after a week peppered with thunderstorms and tornado watches. We got out at 9:00am with John Conroy and his adult son, John Conroy Jr.—both of Seymour CT, staying at the Disney Resort in nearby Vero Beach. The trip began along the Indian River sand bars, where we did well with ladyfish and sea trout--after which we moved to another area, and the Conroys got into more sea trout, just about on every drift. We then moved closer to the Sebastian Inlet, looking for bluefish, but our baits were attacked steadily by large ladyfish. We returned to the flats, working more easterly, and drifting along the grassy areas—with ladyfish, sea trout, bluefish and a blue runner keeping everyone busy. Although bluefish have occasionally shown up in this area, this year they've been found in greater numbers than ever before. Everything went well, and the day's tally was around 50. All the fish were released.
