It tells it all on fishing conditions on the Marsh. Shiners are king right now and put in the right places the action is hot and heavy. One of the interesting things that we are seeing is an abundance of Pickeral and some are pretty good size. I would guess that the rapid water temperature turned these pesky critters out to play. We fished some artificial today and found rattletraps and weightless Senkos to be the best. Spinner baits did rouse a few but not as did the other two baits. Today was the third day of a six day trip for our group from Tennessee and they opted to split the day with some shiners and some artificial fishing. The shiners won out but they are going to try the same deal tomorrow. We found fish on the artificial in the NW end of the Marsh and in the SW end of farm. Obviously with them hitting rattle traps willing the cold water didn't push them into wanting slow presentations only. Best shiner locations have been in the south end of the Farm and in the spillway areas, but wind changes have moved a lot of hyacinth around in the spillway and made it far more difficult to fish. Talking with people that did go into the spillway made us glad that we opted not to go there as catches in there were very skimpy. The pump was running on the east side of the Farm but the only results there were Pickeral. See you on the water. Say hi if you get the chance.
