Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services Date Fished: 12/8/02 Water Temperature: 65 Water Clarity: 2-3 feet John Caringi came all the way down here to taste some of the fishing that he had read could be had on the Stick Marsh, and tomorrow morning he goes back to New Jersey knowing that he almost tasted it all. Not everyone is going to see the Marsh at its near finest but John's three day trip came to a climatic end today as he boated 84 bass to 5 pounds. The only thing missing was the 10+ pound fish but John will be back in the spring to see if he can get the Boga Grip to sing out that mighty number. We started out today in the spillway fishing the west shoreline with free-lined shiners. The Bass bite although a bit sporadic was steadies until about 10:00 AM. The wind did a switch around to the east and the entire hyacinth that was up in the pocket and along the east shore wiped out our fishing area. We tried the pocket in front of the pipes but only manage a couple of bites so it was time to move off for more profitable waters. We headed to the SW of the Farm and set up. The first shiner out lasted about 10 seconds and as John reeled that one in the second balloon disappeared. With a brief respite I was able to get a third pole out for John and then it became hilarious. I would call the balloon color and John would reel it to the boat. There were many that he couldn't finish reeling as the balloons disappeared almost as fast as they hit the water. There were a couple of missed hook sets here and there, but John had this shiner thing down pretty well. Unfortunately the two toilet flushes that we had were both left in the water. When we finished the shiners we went to weightless Senkos in the same anchored spot. I had been catching bass in between rigging the shiners and poles with the Senkos so there was no sense in going elsewhere. We continued catching at a pretty consistent pace and called it quits at 3:00. These kinds of days occur with quite a bit of regularity. If you are looking for dynamic fishing the Stick Marsh is the place to come and we will be more than glad to show you how it's done. See you out there. Say hi if you are going by. Catch a big one or catch a lot, but by all means come on down and catch them. George & Scott Welcome are full time guides and full time fishermen on Stick Marsh/Farm 13.
