Better Water

They have reduced the water releases from Lake Okeechobee considerably a few weeks ago which is bringing life back to the St. Lucie River. I'm starting to see baitfish returning near the Roosevelt Bridge with tarpon on their tails. Amazing what a little salinity will do. I am still targeting incoming tide south or fishing north on outgoing tide until we get back to normal here on the Treasure Coast. The St. Lucie has been quite productive on most trips with snook, bonefish, cubera snapper, jacks, sheepshead and a dozen more species. Most pompano have been in the crossroads and near the Stuart Causeway caught on Capt. Joe's pompano jigs tipped with fishbites. A few mackerel still inside but Pecks Lake action outside has slowed down. {%image_id=47511%} {%image_id=47510%} {%image_id=47508%} {%image_id=47509%} Outside at the sandpile, look for cobia and permit along with lots of sharks. Live crabs, greenies and jigs will work. As the seas start to settle, I look forward to get outside a bit more. North of the Jensen Causeway trout in 2-4 feet and pompano near the spoil islands.
