The sheepshead and black drum bite is great here on the Treasure Coast and will only get better as we head into February and March. Pompano has been hit or miss so far in January but this recent cold snap should push more pompanos inshore. Last year, February and March were most productive. A few Spanish mackerel inshore but the good news is the macks have finally shown up here in Stuart along the beaches. December, they were thick in Fort Pierce (20 miles north of us) but are here off Peck's Lake now and should remain here till late March. Have not been able to target the macs yet with high seas but when the ocean flattens out 1-2 foot, we will be on them. I normally run a dozen or so mackerel trips each season and looking forward to it. I like to smoke them and make my homemade mackerel dip (smack). At the bridges along with the black drum, look for big croaker, snook and flounder. {%image_id=64863%} {%image_id=64864%} {%image_id=64865%} {%image_id=64866%} Capt.
