St. Lucie Area: Mackerel Plenty, Pompano Scarce, Sheepshead Fat

We continue to see spanish mackerel roaming around in the St. Lucie River near Hell's Gate. They have been hitting on Capt. Joe's green mackerel jigs. The best time in this area has been the outgoing tide. Sheepshead seem to be spread out all over. We've been catching them near structure, and also in the crossroads where they don't really belong? The ones we have seen are big - up to three pounds. The inlet and St. Lucie River have been most productive for the tasty fish. Not sure what happened to the sailfish flats, but this area has been dead as a doornail.
