Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

{%image_id=6986%}Forty degree mornings as cold front after cold front pushed through the Stuart area, kept us off the water until the nice weather moved in the past week. The fishing improved greatly as saifish, mahi, kings and Spanish mackerel moved in. The Spanish mackerel were all over the water south of the St. Lucie inlet as we came out the other day. We stopped in them and had a fish on with every toss of our glass minnow lures. It took about fifteen minutes to catch all that we wanted. We then went out to troll ballyhoo and found some great weed patches in seventy feet. We jumped a sail and a mahi but we stayed with it and soon had a pair of nice dolphin in the box. We watched another boat that was stopped on a weed patch, pull some nice tripletail from under it. Kings were being caught in fifty to eighty feet off of Hobe Sound and in sixty five feet straight out from the House of Refuge. Bonita and sharks are also being caught in these areas. Moving inside the inlet pompano are being caught in increasing numbers at the crossroads and sailfish flats. Shrimp tipped jigs are the best bet. You will also catch a lot of jacks and ladyfish using this method. Look for black drum and croaker around the bridges and use flair tail hawks worked slowly off the bottom for snook. Remember snook season is closed on December 15th. Get out and enjoy some great fishing. More later.
