As the water temperatures continue to rise, the near shore fishing has really taken off. Schools of cobia have been running near the beach and we heard reports of a few being caught by surf fisherman. Last weekend they were all over the Bull Shark Barge and multiple hookups were common. Cobia are also being taken trolling plugs near the beach north of the St. Lucie Inlet. Large Spanish mackerel and kings are in the same area and being caught on live bait and trolling lures such as bombers and plugs. The bottom bite has been great with beeliners, lanes, porgy and triggerfish at the Loran Tower. On a trip the other day we loaded up the fish box. Dolphin fishing has slowed and the fish have been hit and miss. Sailfish are being caught in decent numbers for this time of year. Look for a few blackfin tuna around Push Button Hill and there are plenty of amberjacks on the wrecks and reefs. Catch and release snook are being caught around the bridges at night and tarpon are beginning to move into the area. More later.{%image_id=15045%}
