It has been one of the windiest fall fishing seasons that we could remember, but a lot of fish have been caught when conditions would allow. The December sailfish tournaments released fish in record and near record numbers. The dolphin bite remained steady as well as the blackfin tuna bite offshore. We had a great bottom fishing trip off of the Loran Tower the other day. We released tons of keeper sized sea bass which are closed through May 31st. We boated some jumbo triggerfish and a bunch of porgy and returned several vermilions. The Spanish mackerel bite is awesome south of the St. Lucie inlet and into Peck's Lake. We caught a few for the smoker just before Christmas. Blue fish are in the surf as well as pompano, jacks, and Spanish mackerel. We had a hot pompano bite at the crossroads the other day using Doc's goofy jigs. Clean water was the key to the pompano bite. Look for croaker and black drum at the bridges. Shrimp tipped jigs will do the trick. It looks like calm seas for the holiday weekend so get out and enjoy. Happy New Year.
