Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

May started out peaceful and calm but chopped up after the full moon. We had some great bottom fishing for vermilions, lanes, triggers and porgy and we are looking forward to the opening of sea bass on June 1st. Our last trip started out slow. We had several drifts with only a couple of fish so we decided to move a little further south and it paid off big time. We wound up with over fifty fish with the majority of them being porgy. There were sea turtles everywhere as they are laying their eggs on the beaches. The dolphin bite is still slow and we are hoping it takes off soon. A few kings are being caught south of the inlet off of Hobe Sound. Plenty of bonita are being hooked around the bait pods and there are some big jacks off the beaches. Surprisingly a few pompano are still being caught in the river. We had some great snook bites on live mullet in the St. Lucie River near the seawalls. The bridges are holding black drum, snapper, and snook fishing is good at night there. Remember that snook season ends June 1st. More later.
