Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

Fishing in the past month has not been easy. Tropical Storm Debby dropped a lot of rain but as it moved on the bite improved. Dolphin are scattered and have been hard to come across unless you go out to six hundred feet or more. The sailfish bite has been good when you can find the bait pods they are feeding on. Bonita have been caught just about everywhere. Some decent kings have been caught inside of one hundred feet. The bottom has been the best place to fish when the current allows. Some nice grouper and sea bass are being caught on the Eight Mile Reef north of the St. Lucie inlet along with a few snapper. Off of the Loran Tower, south of the inlet a mixed bag of beeliners, lanes, trigger fish. and porgy are filling fish boxes. Mutton snapper are being caught off of the Loran Ledge. A decent amount of cobia are being caught at the Bull Shark Barge south of the inlet. There are sardines there in good numbers that the fish are feeding on. A few cobia have been lost to bull sharks as they are being reeled in. There are plenty of catch and release snook spawning around the inlet. Live bait is the best bet. We are hoping the dolphin bite will improve as the winds become more easterly. More later.
