We have been catching plenty of Spanish mackerel south of the St. Lucie Inlet. A lot of them have been jumbos which are great for smoking. Some days they can be trolled with glass minnow jigs but when they are on the bottom, we tip the jig with a piece of shrimp and bounce it along bottom and we always get a hit. We limited out several times on lane snapper off of the Loran Tower in seventy five feet of water. We also caught our limit of beeliners on a subsequent trip along with porgy, and triggerfish. The dolphin and sailfish biter has been sporadic with a few fish being caught. There are whiting, bluefish, jacks, and an occasional pompano in the surf. A few pompano are also being caught at the causeway bridges and Sailfish Flats. There are plenty of jacks and lady fish in the rivers along with an occasional snook. A few cobia have also been caught near the beaches. We are looking forward to a nice run of mahi in the next month or so. More later.
