The fishing has been pretty decent in the last month with the abundance of live bait outside of the St. Lucie Inlet. Sardines can be found on the Bull Shark Barge as well as the Sandpile. There are bonita just about anywhere you go and we caught them by the dozens. We lost several to bull sharks as they neared the boat. We even lost one to a goliath grouper right at the boat as it followed our fish up from a wreck. Cobia are being caught at the Sandpile as well as the Evans Crary Bridge rubble. Once again the bullsharks make it difficult to get your fish to the boat. There are some kings being taken along with barracuda. We released a couple of sails and a white marlin in a weed line further out along with a nice bull dolphin. The bottom fishing has been decent with us catching a mixed bag of lanes, beeliners, trigger fish, and porgy, south of the inlet in seventy feet of water. Catch and release snook have gathered around the inlet for the annual spawn. A live sardine is the best bet. Snook season will reopen September 1st.
