Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

It has been tough to get outside the inlet as of late with the high winds causing rough seas, but when we did, we had some very good fishing. The Spanish maceral have been pretty thick south of the inlet and we caught all we wanted on spoons and jigs along with some bluefish. WE also boated several kings that day drifting dead ballyhoo which we put in the smoker for fish dip. There was a good sailfish bite in the beginning of the month for boats that were big enough to brave the rough seas. The bottom fishing was really good south of the inlet in 75 feet of water. We caught a mixed bag of lane snapper, seabass, porgy, blue runners and almaco jack. We also had mutton snapper and trigger fish but most of them were below minimum size. The dolphin bite is scattered but some are being caught. Pompano fishing has been hot and cold but the oncoming cold fronts should help. Snook season reopens February 1st so get you gear ready.
