Afternoon Tailing Redfish

The afternoon low tides brought tailing redfish in portions of upper Tampa Bay. The redfish were feeding in the sloughs, sand holes, and thick grass. Smaller fish were spread out along the flats, and some schools of bigger fish working the edges. {%image_id=6072%} I prefer to fly fish for tailing reds. Some fish are feeding in thick grass. A small unweighted fly can be dropped right on there head. One or two hops of the fly is usually all it takes. I like to use snapping shrimp or small toad flies. It takes a little skill to fish for tailing redfish. For anyone interesting in giving it a try, the last week in sept. will provide the right tides. -Capt. Nick {%image_id=6073%}
