Inshore Bite Has Been Great In Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay Inshore Charter Report Tropical Storm Emily came in with a lot of rain, but other than that it was not too bad. Let's talk Mangrove Snapper first; the bite has been red hot the past three weeks! Small white bait and chumming has been the ticket, that and a lighter leader and a small circle Gamakatsu #2 hook is what I like for mangrove snappers on the rock piles. Red fishing has also been pretty good on the flats; cut bait has been working well, but I can't give away where, you'll have to do a little scouting on your own. {%image_id=55198%} Snook fishing in the mangroves has been good very early but then around 10am it slows down. If you want to toss a top-water plug, try Heddon top water in bone color or MirrOlure's MirrOdine #49 Bayou Greenback early as the sunrise and you'll definitely get some bites. From 8-10 am try a small jerk bait like Rapala's Rip &Slash, I've done well with it. But sometimes you need live bait to really get the fish going. Chum heavy and preferably on an outgoing tide. {%image_id=55195%} {%image_id=54972%} {%image_id=53321%} It's been rainy, but when it gets clear it's perfect weather for fishing. If you're looking for an inshore fishing trip in Tampa Bay or a Clearwater guide, give me a call and we'll get you hooked up on some great light tackle fishing. Tight Lines… Capt.
