Late Summer Early Fall Fishing

Here's what you can expect to catch in the Gulf of Mexico for the next few months, if you go fishing offshore. From 5-15 miles out gray snapper, porgy, Spanish mackerel, shark, barracuda and some red and gag grouper. But remember, a lot of the groupers will be under size unless you venture off further offshore where the bigger groupers hang out in the summer. {%image_id=55579%} 20-40 miles out, the fishing picks up, and there's a lot better chance of hooking keeper sized groupers, mangrove snapper, nice lane snappers, and if you're really lucky, blackfin tuna or a few mahi-mahi. {%image_id=55578%} On the wrecks, you will find amberjacks, bonita, sharks, cobia and goliath grouper. The good thing about fishing the St. Pete Beach area is that the fishing is always good - as long as you do the right trip, during the right time of the year.
