Major Cold Front puts fish in winter mode - Tampa Bay Fishing Re

We had a major cold front on Monday and it was about time. Since this cold weather is supposed to stick around for the next two weeks, it's going to finally put the fish in their winter patterns and fire off the sheepshead bite. Right now the bait is still around which is a good thing, but sometimes when it gets really cold it can be hard to find when we get these big cold fronts, but that's ok. Wintertime is when I bring out the artificials for Trout, as well Snook and Reds. {%image_id=57034%} {%image_id=57032%} I will have a livewell full of frisky shrimp for sheepshead and other species. But I really enjoy tossing artificials and wintertime is a great time to do that. The nice thing about wintertime fishing is you don't have to start out at daylight, and sometimes it's better to let the sun heat things up which is when the fish become more active. When we get these really cold temps in Tampa Bay the fish usually take a few days to adjust to the drop in water temps, but when they are ready to eat, we're ready to catch them.
