Mixed bag in Tampa Bay

Three charters last week! The key word was "hot, hot and more hot".{%image_id=11583%} My first charter was with Chris and his 8 year old son Collin. No snook on the beach for us this day. We did find snapper and a bunch of trout {%image_id=11584%}to keep Collin's rod bent most of the day. I really enjoy introducing or{%image_id=11581%} helping young people to learn a little about fishing and having fun catching fish. My second charter was with Rick and Steve. {%image_id=11589%}The day started slow as the water temperature was 89° and the air temp was in the low 90's. The beach snook bite is really slowing down as we fished two different {%image_id=10796%}beach area's with no luck. We then went to my favorite near shore spot but again no luck. I finally came inside to my best low tide trout spot. The trout turned on and Steve and Rick {%image_id=11582%}had a blast catching 10 or 12 nice trout along with whiting and a couple of snapper. Not much going on right now. {%image_id=11588%} My third was with a great young man Kyle visiting from California. We had the best catching day of the week. {%image_id=11587%} No snook today either, except for a few stragglers the beach snook fishing in south Pinellas is over. Kyle had never fished in shallow salt before and came away very excited about this type of fishing. We caught trout, snapper, and whiting. Gag grouper, cobia along with redfish. {%image_id=11585%} What's biting! The redfish are being very elusive and not chewing very well although you can catch a few. This will change soon and they will get in very predictable patterns. The snapper are everywhere and I do mean everywhere. Lots of small trout with some big fat females show up in the areas with current. Snook are in transition from the beach to the islands and canals. The bonus fish this week is "needle fish". I have never seen so many needle fish killing my baits as I have this year,{%image_id=11586% Captain Little Jim Fesperman
