Well, as the spring finally arrives the king mackerel are starting to show up in the Gulf waters of St Pete Beach, FL. These fish are big, fast and a fun fish to catch on light tackle. Whether you're trolling, drift fishing or just have a flat line out the back of the boat; they are reel screamers. Live bait is the key for bigger kings at a slow speed or you can troll a planner board and spoon for kings and Spanish mackerel at faster speed. {%image_id=47597%} Grouper and snapper have been great with good number on both species for this time of the year.
