Hideaway! Well when is this wind going to stop blowing?. It has been too rough to get out and do any off shore fishing. So all of the fishing that we have been doing has been in the bay. That is the nice thing about fishing in the bay, if it is windy you can usually find an area to get out of the wind and catch some fish. Let’s start with the Sheepshead fishing it has been real good. I don’t know if it can get too cold to catch Sheepshead. I know one of the days that we fished last week it was only 45 degrees when we started out. That’s cold to me. We did not have much luck with the Red fish that day however the Sheepshead bite was good. We managed to catch a bunch each trip. Most of the fish that we have been catching have a been real good size. The Sheepshead of the week was a fish that was about 5 lbs. Then we have the Red fish. Most of these fish have been in really shallow water, this makes them hard to catch at times. With some of the lower tides these fish have no choice but to fall off the flats because there is no water on the flats. This usually causes the fish to congregate in the holes off the edges of the flats. We did manage to get the Red fish in a frenzy a couple of days we caught 30 or more Red fish. Most of the fishing was with shrimp but we did manage to catch a few on jigs. The Red fish of the week was a 24 inch fish
