Getting Red-ey! Well let’s end this month with a bang ,because the Red tide has moved out of the areas where we have been fishing it’s been great. A lot of the smaller bait that we catch this time of year on the flats have shown up so it is starting to get back to normal. I will start with the Snook fishing. We have had to work a little to get these fish to bite. This has a lot to do with the tides. The more tide you have moving the better it is. The Snook of the week was a 26 inch fish. The Red fish have shown up and have been going nuts. We have had a few really good days the last couple of weeks where we have managed to get these fish into a real good frenzy. Most of the fish we have been catching have been really nice 23-28 inches with a lot of them pushing the top end of slot limit 27 inches. As you can see in the picture four fish on at once gets to be a little crazy. The red fish of the week was a 28 inch fish. Then we have the Trout fishing which. has been a lot of fun as well because with the Trout we have had a lot of other fish mixed in we were catching Jacks, Mackerel, Sharks, and a few other types of fish. When you are sitting waiting on a Trout to bite and you hook a Shark that is 3-5 feet long on the light tackle you really have your hands full. Then we have the Tarpon fishing. There are still a lot of big fish around but we have not had a whole lot of luck catching the big Tarpon. But we have had a lot of fun with the smaller fish. If you get a 20-40 lb Tarpon on the light tackle it is like catching a 150 lb Tarpon on heavier tackle. We did have a lot of fun with the smaller fish and we hooked a few that were 30 lbs or better.Come see pictures at www.castawaychartersinc.com.
